Every technician must believe in their passion, it helps build confidence, but you must also know as a technician some of the things you must not say when going to a site to take an estimate especially when the homeowners are around
●You don’t need their comfort, they need your service: Some clients have ways of manipulating technicians. They do this to get them to give their value at their own rate. This is when the client thinks he has spent too much at the site. Your job is to see to it that you don’t get manipulated. Avoid saying things to suit their comfort.
●Don’t condemn other technicians’ work: Every experienced electrician must know they’re not perfect, so when going to a site, you must reason why the technician did their work or abused the code of conduct in the field work. Yours is to go there and make sure diligent work is done.
●Don’t go for others’ professional work: Work available at the site which you have no experience aside from your profession, it’s good to at least take a job you have no idea about and refer it to your friends, but that doesn’t mean, condemn other professional work you have no idea about and refer it to your colleagues. This is compromising your integrity and other people’s dignity at work.
●Your clients are not just your clients: some professionals see clients to be just ordinary, so they meet up, win the contract and avoid building a relationship with the client or checking up on them after completing a project. Some clients are gateway, they either refer you to others or condemn you.
Remember your network is your networth, you may not see things improve immediately when practising these values but give it time, and you’ll understand the real value of principles.
